ALLEGHENY
COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY
The Allegheny County Housing Authority (ACHA) is a federally funded
public housing property manager of 43 family and elderly communities
within Allegheny County. There are 20 high-rise apartment buildings,
267 multi-unit structures, and 116 single-family homes totalling 3,509
dwelling units county-wide.
I was employed
by the Allegheny County Housing Authority from May 1993 to September
2000 and re-employed in May 2001 to present. I was hired into the Development
Department as a CAD Technician and earned promotions to Project Specialist
and Production Manager/Webmaster.
The CAD
Technician responsibilities included the implementation of new CAD hardware
and software, organize and develop a library of CAD drawings, and produce
plans and specifications for limited scope improvement projects (under
$10,000).
I found
many opportunities to implement my skills beyond the expected requirements.
My reputation with PC hardware and software was quickly realized and
I was called upon many times to assist co-workers. I was assigned presentation
specialties for the talent and skill I demonstrated in my work.
I created
new technical reports and data now used by the entire organization.
I expanded the internal contract development capacity of limited scope
projects to general scope (largest was 1.2 million). Large electronic
drawing and specification libraries became valuable resources to the
ACHA. As a result of the success, the ACHA added a technical position
to supplement the realized ability.
The Project
Specialist promotion was a direct result of my accomplishments and responsibilities.
The addition of new duties and implementation of the web site www.achsng.com
warranted the Production Manager/Webmaster promotion.
Much of
the work is developing plans and specifications for the competitive
bidding of site and building improvements. My experience includes a
wide variety of projects from below grade utility replacements to roof
replacements and everything in between. There are a few samples listed
