The
following series of images illustrates a typical graphic build through
masking and layering techniquies. Once these steps are complete it's simple
to create many variations and animations.
The Flash sample at the right was built from
a few parts of the master image.

The original background
image cropped and sized.
3 new layers added; trees/tank (left), plane (top right), and text (top center).
The trees/tank and plane were masked to extract them from thier original pictures.
Extracted soldiers are added to foreground and cannon effect added to tank.
The cannon effect will be used for the Flash animation.
The finished image "flattened" and colorized for a vintage look.
